Supporting Laws that Make Sense

Illinois Voices advocates for laws that are practical, effective, and protect constitutional rights while truly enhancing public safety. Policies should be based on research and evidence, not fear-driven reactions to rare, high-profile cases. Laws created to appease public outrage often waste taxpayer money, harm individuals’ rights, and may even reduce overall safety.

Illinois Voices closely monitors the Illinois General Assembly each year, tracking bills related to public registries. We evaluate whether these proposals are constitutional, effective, and truly contribute to preventing sexual violence. If a bill falls short, we actively oppose it—often urging our supporters to submit Witness Slips or contact their state legislators.
